Orient Express sets sail

Orient Express

Introducing the Corinthian, the world’s most luxurious sailing yacht. For more than a century, Orient Express has represented the romance of travel. The gentle rhythm of a train journey, the glamour of another era, and the idea that the journey itself can be every bit as memorable as the destination. Now, the legendary brand is embarking on a new chapter at sea. With the launch of Orient Express Corinthian, the world’s largest sailing yacht, Orient Express extends its vision of travel beyond the rails and into the Mediterranean, reimagining grand voyages for a new generation. The 220-metre vessel accommodates just 54 suites, combining the intimacy of a private yacht with the elegance and craftsmanship long associated with the brand. Designed as a floating sanctuary, the yacht reflects the same attention to detail that made Orient Express iconic. French craftsmanship, contemporary design, panoramic sea views, and a slower approach to travel define the experience onboard. Powered in part by an innovative sailing system, the vessel also signals a growing commitment to more sustainable forms of luxury travel. The maiden voyages begin in the Mediterranean, sailing between destinations such as the French Riviera, Italy, Corsica, Sardinia, and the Adriatic. More than an itinerary, the experience celebrates a return to the art of the journey itself; one measured not by speed, but by atmosphere, discovery, and the changing horizon beyond the deck. And Orient Express reminds us that luxury may simply be the ability to travel more slowly.

Conrad Athens The Ilisian

A new chapter for an Athenian landmark Set within the former Hilton Athens building on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, Conrad Athens The Ilisian marks a new chapter for one of the city’s most recognisable modernist landmarks. Long associated with postwar Athens and the social life of the capital, it is one of the city’s most anticipated openings in recent years, which returns reimagined through a contemporary lens – balancing heritage, hospitality, design, and wellbeing within a large-scale urban destination. The redevelopment preserves elements of the original 1960s architecture alongside the well-known artworks by Yiannis Moralis, while introducing a more residential and internationally minded atmosphere. Marble surfaces, soft textures, curated artworks, natural light, and expansive views toward the Acropolis shape interiors that feel refined yet understated. Across the hotel, restaurants, wellness spaces, residences, and retail areas unfold with a sense of openness more often associated with a small cultural district than a traditional hotel. A contemporary interpretation of Athenian hospitality rooted in presence, connection, and ease and reflecting the Athens of today; design-conscious, culturally connected and looking confidently ahead.

Monocle Cafe-Paris

The Monocle world arrives in Paris Set within one of Paris’s most beautiful neighbourhoods, Monocle Café Paris brings together coffee, design, and publishing, in a way that feels distinctly aligned with l‘art de vivre parisien. Small in scale but influential in spirit, it offers a calm corner of the city that values quality, simplicity and human connection and feels like a natural meeting point for readers, travellers, creatives, and locals moving through the city. A place for creative gatherings and meaningful conversations, shaped by the quiet rituals of urban life. Inside, warm wood, soft lighting, and carefully arranged objects create a space that feels both intimate and cosmopolitan. Designed by Kann Design, the interiors move naturally between coffee shop, reading room, boutique, and meeting place — reflecting Monocle’s distinctive approach to hospitality and culture. Mornings begin with specialty coffee from Paris-based roaster Ten Belles, pastries, pastries from Terroirs d’Avenir, and Japanese sandos from Yabaï Sando, while evenings shift toward wine, cocktails, and conversations carried late into the day. Alongside Monocle’s own publications, visitors will also find a carefully curated selection of the finest international titles, reinforcing the café’s role as a place of discovery and creative exchange.
